PSU Calculator

Adds up typical component power draw and applies a safety margin, so you get a PSU wattage recommendation rather than buying right at the limit.

How this works

  1. It adds the CPU and GPU power ratings you choose, plus 60W for the motherboard, RAM and the rest of the system, 8W per storage drive and 4W per fan or RGB device.
  2. It multiplies that total by 1.3, which leaves 30% headroom above the estimated draw.
  3. It rounds up to the next common PSU size: 450, 550, 650, 750, 850, 1000 or 1200W. Builds that need more than 1200W are shown as 1200W.

Rated TDP isn't the same as peak draw. Some graphics cards spike well above their rating for milliseconds, so check the card maker's recommended PSU too.
